Choosing web hosting in Malaysia (2026)

Compare shared hosting, VPS, Cloud WordPress and dedicated servers by workload, management needs, backups and long-term costs.

Start with your workload and your team

List what you need to host: a business website, an online store or a custom application. Note its software, storage, traffic patterns and recovery needs. Then decide who will handle updates, monitoring and incidents. The right plan fits both the workload and the people responsible for it.

Shared hosting for a straightforward website

Shared hosting can suit a brochure website or a modest WordPress installation when its software fits the supported environment. Compare CPU and memory limits, storage, backups and available support. Caching can reduce repeated work, but test your own pages and checkout rather than choosing by visitor counts alone.

VPS for more control

A VPS gives you control over the operating system and application stack. It can suit custom software or a workload that needs resources beyond a shared plan. Check which resources are allocated and which are shared. Confirm whether management is included: security updates, backups and incident response still need an owner.

Cloud WordPress and dedicated servers

For WordPress, compare the scope of a managed platform: caching, updates, backups and support may differ between plans. A dedicated server provides a physical machine for your workload when that level of control is needed. Compare operational effort as well as capacity; more hardware does not remove the need to maintain the application.

Compare the full cost and recovery plan

Check renewal pricing, migration work, backup retention, restore procedures and data exports before committing. Test response times from your customers’ locations rather than relying on a data-centre label. Ask how support handles an outage and how you can move to another plan as the website grows.
